Fish around West Palm Beach

All types of saltwater fishing are popular and abundant in the area including deep sea, near shore and the tidal flats. Popular species include sailfish, dolphin, wahoo, snook, grouper, permit, tarpon, jacks, snappers, cobia, king fish, Spanish mackerel, swordfish, sharks and mullet.

While nearby Palm Beach is known for its excellent deep sea opportunities, West Palm Beach is better known for the direct access it offers to the fish filled Intracoastal Waterway and the associated backwaters. The sandy flats and grass fields offer excellent opportunities to catch your limit of snook, red fish, snapper and mullet.

With the assistance of a local guide you will find that drifting the flats and targeting these local species on light tackle and live bait will result in a great fishing adventure. Minutes and hours will soon be replaced with hook ups and limits caught. There is just a ton of action to be had along the flats in this region.

West Palm Beach enjoys a tropical rainforest climate, meaning there is not a dry season or winter to speak of. Temperatures range from a low of 50-75 in winter to summer time highs above 90 degrees. Summer also brings the possibility of frequent, but short afternoon thunderstorms.

Because of the warm weather and thunderstorms, the prepared angler will be equipped with comfortable, light clothing that will not only provide protection from the sun but also dry quickly if you are caught out in the rain. You will also want to include a hat for shade, sunscreen, and comfortable shoes.

Access to the West Palm Beach area is easy as Palm Beach International Airport is a mere 3 miles away and Amtrak service is available. Those driving to the area will find I-95 a direct route from either the north or south.

The downtown area is chock full of shopping, including antique boutiques and brand name high-end stores, and so are the downtowns and boardwalks of the many famous beaches near to WPB. Boynton Beach, Delray Beach and Juno Beach are just beside you. A further trip will take you to Highland and Riviera Beach. All are wonderful places to spend some time.

Every level of culture is represented ranging from art galleries, opera theaters, and museums, to spring training facilities for the Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals. There are also large numbers of polo and golf courses.
